Beeswax Food Wraps.
Beeswax wraps are an eco-friendly substitution to plastic wrap and baggies! They can be used to cover dishes, keep cut produce from going bad, take a sandwich on-the-go, let cheese breath naturally, keep bread from going stale, cover food while outside, and so much more! Beeswax is naturally antibacterial and water resistant- making these wraps perfect for keeping your food fresh and protected! These make a great eco-friendly gift for family or friends who are looking to reduce their plastic use. Each wrap is made from 100% cotton fabric, beeswax, organic jojoba oil and pine resin; all ingredients are food grade. This combination creates a malleable food wrap that is not only waterproof but also has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. For food safety reasons DO NOT use your wax wraps with raw meat or fish.
Each package contains 3 wraps of different sizes. Each package contains a: 6x9, 10x10, 11x14. Please be advised that each pack is different and may slightly differ from photo with size or each pattern.
HOW IS IT USED?
For your first use ball up your wrap into a tight ball multiple times to activate the wrap. This will warm up the wax and cause it to become sticky and ready for use. Using the warmth of your hands to warm up the wrap you can then place it around a piece of food or over the top of a container. When covering a dish it is best to use the palms of your hands to push around the edge of the dish and create a seal. Suggested uses for your Beeswax wrap include using it to wrap cheese, vegetables, bread, fruit, fresh herbs, baked goods, sandwiches, etc. and it even make a great cover for homemade sourdough starter.
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY BEESWAX WRAP?
Wash your Beeswax Wrap in cool water with mild soap. (Avoid sources of heat, such as hot water and microwaves as this can melt the wax and ruin your wrap.) Air dry, fold and store in a drawer or in a basket on the counter. The beeswax and jojoba oil have antibacterial qualities that help to keep your food fresh and allow you to use the Beeswax Wrap again and again.
HOW LONG DOES BEESWAX WRAP LAST?
Beeswax Wraps can last anywhere from 6 months to over a year with proper care and regular usage. With prolonged use, the wax will begin to crack and lose its stickiness, when this happens the wraps can be “freshened up” by placing on a lined baking tray in the oven on a low heat for 2 minutes. This will melt the coating and allow it to recover the wrap. Carefully remove from the pan and allow to cool, it will cool extremely quickly and will be ready to use immediately after cooling.
DISPOSING OF YOUR WRAP:
Beeswax wraps can last between 6 and 12 months depending on use and care. When it’s time to part with them, you can put in the compost bin or they can be used as fire starters.
Please be advised that all items are made individually and exact measurements might vary slightly. We try to display the colors of our garments accurately, but different monitors may cause colors to appear differently.
